Hi! I'm

NIKITA NERURKAR

a UX Researcher/ Strategist

I am a researcher by trade, a storyteller at heart, an engineer by education, and curious by design.

I am currently recruiting participants for the systems implementation study. The recruitment process has been stretching the project timeline. Working along with vulnerable population, sometimes you have to take a step back and asses the external factors that might be overwhelming the participating population.

This project so far has been a crucial learning experience. Stepping out of my technical, engineering and innovation centered comfort zone into a world driven by people and their behavior. Some of my major takeaways from this project so far are,

Navigating Recruitment and Implementation

Making Space for Other Experiences

As a researcher, my role is to bring in the user's voice in the product cycle, build empathy among designers, product manager and developers. Help them understand the impact of the product or service on the users. This more than often means acknowledging that there isn't one ideal user but a spectrum we are serving. Advocating and making space to accommodate the experiences across a spectrum is important.

Working Autonomous

As the sole researcher, running a team of one to conduct the round of recruitment, interviews and analysis for systems implementation. I am learning to be self motivated and autonomous with my research progress. Continuous check-ins with the timeline and the principle advisor on the progress of the study.

Exploring Research Methods

There's a broad spectrum of research methods, each with their own list of strengths and shortcomings. This study engaged its primary user group in each step, from setting the problem statement to understanding implementation of the designed solution.
